Escape

Escape is part of Cecilia’s Freedom Collection - inspired by Ms. Yeonmi Park’s escape from North Korea. Using New Zealand wool the collection is made up of two hand-knotted and two hand-tufted carpets and uses lines to express order and freedom as her story is told.

This is the second hand-knotted carpet from the Freedom Collection. Escape tells part three of Ms. Yeonmi Park's story and depicts the journey of her actual escape from North Korea. This is displayed in the design through regimented straight lines, with one line making a break for it to the edge of the carpet.
